Language implications

We are proud that on our platform communities span countries and continents (We wish politiciens could do the same). They share information about their disease. And we want to make it easy for our friends to understand the information so we translate!

There is more to translations then google (and other tools) can do!. In your country a medication might not be allowed and you  should use another allowed medication. Or we point to a national support group (as a example on Autism) while in your country there is a good alternative. Etcetera.

Geographies

That's why we support language-geography (mostly countries) combination. As a example think of US-English, UK-Englisch or English down-under. They can read the words, but medication advises might be different.

Default language

If you share a article, let's again take Autism in your disease as a example it would be really great if all translations are based on the mother-article. You start with the mother-article and each community translates it into their language as a child article.

But if your mother-article is chinese it makes it difficult for other readers to translate it (although Google translate and other tools can help you here). 

So our advise is that you write your mother-articles in English. It makes the alignment on discussion points easier.

Updating information

If you share a article, let's again take Autism in your disease as a example, it is important that once new insights become avialable you can easily inform your international communities and that they can update their translation.

You can make the first update in any language (child) you like and all co-authors will be informed about your update as WaihonaPedia considers a mother-child group of articles as ONE entity
