What is a wiki document

In XWiki a document (e.g. a single page) is something that can be seen as single box that can contain something; usually a text. But in XWiki it can additionally contain pictures, PDF's or little objects of data.

It is important to understand that these pictures, PDF's or data-objects can not exist in XWiki without a document that "contains" (store) them.

Obviously we "see" the document through software that generates a nice HTML page 1

This software could confuse the user as it can show "Included" documents. So you are then viewing multiple documents in ONE view; not a single document.

  1. ^ note that XWiki can also generate a Document (and it's content) into something else like a PDF, a Picture or datafile (JSON, CSV)
