Identifying and Addressing Behavioral Health Concerns in Individuals with CdLS

Individuals with CdLS experience significant challenges daily, including behavioral health concerns, such as anxiety and depression. These difficulties are further exacerbated by deficits in language and communication placing them at higher risk for behavior challenges. These challenges were further impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Assessing behavioral health concerns will be highlighted along with a discussion of treatment options which include implementing behavioral strategies, increasing adaptive skills and teaching coping strategies in conjunction with pharmacotherapy, when indicated.
