Unwillingness to walk
Question
Recently, my daughter has had a few episodes upon waking where she seems to be in pain when she bears weight on her legs. Have you heard of this condition?
Answer of our experts
There are several causes for unwillingness to walk that are related to the lower extremities. The most common is a sore hip from transient synovitis. Others are muscle or ligament discomfort, infections, stress fractures, other hip conditions, etc. The best advice is to have your daughter seen by her pediatrician or a pediatric orthopedist if symptoms last more than a few hours.
