Call for Abstracts


From bench to bedside:

Cornelia de Lange syndrome as a model for translational and interdisciplinary research and guidelines development in rare disorders.

The scientific program committee of the 10-th Cornelia de Lange syndrome World Conference invites researchers from around the world to submit abstracts. 

This is an opportunity to share your CdLS related research with international colleagues who are actively aligning basic, clinical and behavioral research. We welcome abstracts related to the field from any disciplinary background, whether the work is fundamental or clinical, empirical or theoretical in nature. Investigators at all career stages are encouraged to submit one or more abstracts. 

PRESENTATIONS

  • Oral presentations (firetalks 7 min 3 min discussion) will take place 15:30-17:30 (right after the SAC meeting) on Wednesday July 31, 2019. 
  • Poster presentations will take place during breaks on Wednesday July 31, Thursday August 1 and Friday 2, 2019. 

Authors who are selected for firetalks are also welcome and encouraged to present a poster to expose the latest insights to both audiences of the scientific and family conferences

SUBMISSION

Authors will receive an email within 48 hours confirming the receipt of their submission and confirming it meets minimum requirements. Notification regarding acceptance will be emailed to authors by June 16, 2019.

REQUIREMENTS

Submissions must include: 

  • A clear and concise abstract of no more than 500 words in English that satisfies all of the below requirements for scholarly rigor: 
  • A title (formatted in Sentence case, not Title Case or UPPERCASE) 
  • A list of all authors using their full names 
  • Institution affiliations for each author 
  • Up to five references or citations, consistently formatted according to any major academic citation style (e.g., APA, Chicago, MLA, Bluebook) 
  • Disclosure of any conflicts of interest 

The composition of the abstract and the scientific focus of the research must: 

  • Clearly articulate a problem giving rise to a research question that drives the work 
  • Include relevant background information, and engage with extant literature 
  • Employ, and clearly identify, research and/or theoretical methods appropriate for the problem and questions raised, including information about sample, recruitment, and analytic strategy (for empirical work) 
  • If empirical, clearly present results (or, where not yet available, hypothesized or anticipated outcomes) and engage with scientific or clinical implications 
  • Identify the importance to individuals with Cornelia de Lange syndrome of any conclusions drawn or arguments advanced 

AWARD

  • The best firetalk and poster will be awarded with the Julie Maraino Award
  • The firetalks will be peer judged by people in the audience. 

Attendees of the family conference will also be able to vote for their favorite poster presentation. 

PUBLICATION

  • All oral and poster presentations and presenters who confirm their participation by May 26, 2019 will be included in program materials 
  • The SAC will also make efforts to submit an integrated report based on the abstracts of the conference to an international peer reviewed journal.
