Pulmonary stenosis

Question

Is pulmonary stenosis common in CdLS? Is surgery the only option for treatment?

Answer of our experts

Approximately 25-30% of individuals with CdLS have congenital heart disease, which could be any type. Pulmonary stenosis certainly is not common but can occur. If mild, it may not need treatment, but usually moderate or severe pulmonary stenosis needs surgical correction. The pediatric cardiologists will be monitoring the progress, and would know if surgery was needed. I would reassure a parent that this is a standard approach
